Built as a compact .380 ACP with a fixed 3.5 inch barrel, the Mod. 86 uses a blowback, semi-automatic action and a DA/SA trigger system with an external hammer and spur. This configuration reflects Bersa’s pre-Thunder design approach from the late 1980s.

It wears a matte blue/black finish on both slide and frame, and wrap-around black synthetic grips embossed with the BERSA logo. Markings include "IMPORTED BY R.S.A. ENTERPRISES INC. OCEAN N.J." and "INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA," confirming its Argentine manufacture and U.S. import history.
