The EMP platform scales the 1911 format for 9mm and .40 S&W, delivering a micro-size, single-action-only pistol with an 8+1 capacity in .40 S&W. This Micro-Compact Lightweight submodel balances concealability with shootability through its short-action layout and refined controls.
The 3-inch barrel is fully supported, ramped, bushing-less, and bull profile, providing robust chamber support for .40 S&W. Factory markings include "EMP CAL .40" on the slide and "S.A. .40 S&W" on the chamber, matching the EMP designation and caliber.
Construction features a two-tone look with a matte stainless forged slide over a black-anodized 7075 aluminum-alloy frame. The slide uses rear cocking serrations only, and the frame is finished with a checkered flat mainspring housing. Fixed low-profile 3-dot sights are dovetailed front and rear for a durable, snag-resistant sighting setup.
Controls and fire-control parts are purpose-built: a left-side thumb safety, extended beavertail grip safety with memory bump, a long lightened 3-hole trigger, and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer. Checkered wood grip panels with Springfield Armory medallions are fitted, and a wrap-around black finger-groove front-strap sleeve is installed for added purchase.
