The GI Standard FS format delivers the traditional Government-size 1911 profile with a 5-inch bushing barrel, GI recoil system, and plug. Chambered in 9mm Luger, the barrel hood is clearly marked "CAL. 9MM," and the frame is marked "M1911 A1 - FS."
Construction is robust, pairing a forged 4140 steel slide with a cast 4140 carbon steel frame under a Parkerized finish. Classic control geometry includes a short, solid trigger and a spur hammer, with both a thumb safety and grip safety. The pistol uses an arched mainspring housing and a smooth front strap, complemented by checkered hardwood double-diamond grip panels.
Sighting equipment is GI-correct and straightforward: a small staked front blade and a low-profile fixed rear. The slide carries rear serrations only and bears the Rock Island Armory crest/logo on the right side, emphasizing the model’s traditional styling.
This Series 70 firing system omits a firing-pin block, preserving a familiar 1911 trigger feel. Capacity is stated at 10+1, and this example includes three 10-round single-stack magazines.
