The Mark V magnum action uses a nine-lug rotary bolt arranged in three rows of three, delivering significantly more locking surface than a traditional two-lug system. The short ~54-degree bolt lift aids fast cycling and helps with scope clearance. A polished, longitudinally fluted bolt body with gas-relief ports and a round bolt knob supports smooth operation and added safety engineering.
The 26-inch stainless barrel wears a matte stainless finish, is factory threaded, and comes with a radial-port brake installed. There are no open sights; the receiver is drilled and tapped, and two-piece rings and bases are already mounted. The internal box magazine with hinged floorplate provides a 3+1 capacity in .300 Weatherby Magnum.
Classic Weatherby styling is evident in the gloss walnut Monte Carlo stock with a rosewood fore-end tip, rosewood grip cap with white diamond inlay, line spacers, and wraparound checkering. A Weatherby recoil pad and sling swivel studs are installed. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Receiver markings include "Mark V," the Weatherby logo, "Made in U.S.A.," and "ATASCADERO, CA." The Mark V in .300 Weatherby Magnum is widely regarded as the flagship combination of the Weatherby brand. Production history of the Mark V spans multiple facilities: 1958–1970 at J.P. Sauer & Sohn (Germany), 1970–1994 at Howa Machinery (Japan), and 1994–present in the United States (currently manufactured in Sheridan, Wyoming).
