The 3-inch Sub-Compact XD-9 uses a short-recoil, locked-breech design with a dual captive recoil-spring assembly to manage slide movement in a compact format. Its forged steel slide and steel barrel receive a Melonite/nitrided treatment for surface hardness and corrosion resistance.
The pistol’s safety suite includes a grip safety, trigger safety, and a firing pin/striker block. A loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide and a striker status indicator at the rear provide clear visual and tactile status checks.
Controls and slide features are set up for practical handling. The ambidextrous magazine release supports either hand, while front and rear cocking serrations aid manipulation. The slide also includes an external extractor and dovetailed steel sights.
Sight configuration is straightforward and durable: a dovetailed front sight with a dot paired with a low-profile dovetailed rear. A single-slot accessory rail on the frame allows fitment of compatible accessories.
This pistol is chambered in 9mm Luger with a listed capacity of 15+1. It comes with two 10-round magazines and one 15-round magazine featuring an XD Gear extended basepad for added purchase and capacity.
