The G49 pairs a G17-length slide and 4.49 in barrel with a compact G19-size frame, offering a longer sight radius and recoil system on a hand-filling compact grip. Capacity is 17+1 with the included 17-round magazine, and it accepts G19 magazines flush as well as G17 magazines with overhang.
The Gen5 feature set includes the Glock Marksman Barrel with polygonal rifling and a revised crown, designed for consistent performance. The frame deletes finger grooves, adds a flared magwell for quicker reloads, and uses a reversible magazine release. Ambidextrous slide-stop levers support left- and right-handed operation, and Glock’s Safe Action system uses three internal safeties.
The slide is cut with front and rear serrations and a beveled muzzle for easier holstering. Sights are the factory fixed polymer set, with a white-dot front and a white-outline U-notch rear; the rear blade is marked 6.1. The dustcover carries Glock’s single-slot accessory rail for lights or other compatible accessories.
This Gen5 MOS configuration includes the MOS optics interface with the factory cover plate installed, allowing the owner to add a compatible optic if desired. Markings include “MADE IN AUSTRIA GLOCK, INC., SMYRNA, GA,” reflecting Austrian manufacture with U.S. import. The G49 was announced in December 2023 as a distributor-exclusive configuration and remains a recent addition to Glock’s 9mm lineup.
