Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Victory Model .38 Special, U.S. PROPERTY G.H.D., 4-inch, V-Prefix, 1943 WWII Revolver

This 1943 Smith & Wesson Victory Model is a U.S. contract revolver chambered in .38 Special with the correct V-prefix serial range. It carries the U.S. PROPERTY acceptance on the top strap with the G.H.D. inspector mark for Col.

Guy H. Drewry (Springfield Ordnance District, 1942–1945). The revolver retains its wartime matte phosphate "black magic" finish, has a 4-inch barrel, and shows matching assembly numbers on the yoke cut and barrel flat.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.

Bore Overall Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: Some markings from previous handling and use. The bore is bright and clean. Please refer to pictures for details.

Built to the standard U.S. contract configuration, this Victory Model features a 4-inch steel barrel and a six-shot cylinder in .38 Special. The fixed-sight system includes a half-moon front blade and a square-notch rear integral to the top strap, exactly as specified for wartime production.

The revolver wears its original wartime matte phosphate finish over steel frame and receiver components, consistent with WWII-era manufacture in the United States. Markings include U.S. PROPERTY G.H.D., MADE IN U.S.A., and the S&W trademark crest.

Small parts are correct for the period: the hammer has a color-casehardened, checkered spur, and the trigger is color-casehardened. Smooth walnut service stocks without medallions are secured by a single screw, and a lanyard swivel is fitted in the butt.

Additional collector interest comes from matching assembly numbers observed on the yoke cut and barrel flat, as well as the V-prefix that identifies wartime Victory Model production. The revolver uses a traditional double-action/single-action mechanism and a six-round capacity.
