The 28-inch octagonal blued barrel features a hooked breech for easy takedown and maintenance, paired with a 1:48 twist suitable for a range of traditional .54 caliber projectiles. The percussion system uses a drum/bolster with nipple, and the barrel is secured by a wedge-key in true Hawken fashion.
The American walnut half-stock includes a left-side cheekpiece and is fitted with brass furniture throughout, including a crescent buttplate, round-lid patchbox, trigger guard, nose cap, and ramrod thimbles. Length of pull measures 14.5 inches.
Sighting is handled by a dovetailed front blade and an adjustable open rear sight mounted mid-barrel, providing a clear, traditional sight picture.
The rifle uses an external percussion hammer and double-set triggers for refined let-off. Attractive factory scroll engraving is present on the lockplate and hammer. As a Thompson/Center reproduction of the Hawken style, it was made in the United States and carries the Rochester, New Hampshire barrel marking.
