The 686 Silver Pigeon is configured as a 20/28 gauge two-barrel combo and was made in Italy. The receiver is marked "P. BERETTA" and shows Gardone and PSF proof marks, with additional "CAM. 70" and "15,9" markings. Trunnion-style pivots are used in the receiver, and the barrel monoblocs carry dual ejector/extractor hardware with timed ejectors.
The barrels are Beretta’s Excelsior high-strength alloy steel and are marked "EXCELSIOR – HIGH STRENGTH ALLOYED STEEL." Both barrel sets feature a ventilated rib with anti-glare matting and accept screw-in choke tubes. The 20 gauge set measures 28 inches, and the included 28 gauge set measures 26.5 inches. Chambers accept 2 3/4 and 3-inch shells.
A green fiber-optic front sight is installed in place of the traditional bead, providing a bright, easy-to-acquire aiming reference. Controls include a tang-mounted safety with barrel selector and a single selective trigger.
The receiver wears a silver/nickel finish with factory floral/rosette engraving on the receiver and the forend latch plate. Furniture is gloss-finished, cut-checkered walnut with a pistol grip, a slim field-style forend, and a black rubber buttpad with the Beretta logo. Length of pull is 14.5 inches, and the stock has a slight right-hand cast-off. Barrels are blued, complementing the receiver’s silver/nickel finish.
