The Mark II series was introduced in 1982 as the successor to the Mark I, bringing a 10-round magazine and a true last-round bolt hold-open via a bolt stop. This Target model carries the 5.5-inch bull barrel for stability and balance, with a blued barreled-receiver and grip frame. It is rollmarked "MARK II TARGET" and uses a right-side ejection port with rear bolt ears for positive manipulation.
This example is set up with a Ruger adjustable target rear sight and an aftermarket green fiber-optic front sight for a bright, precise sight picture. The installed wrap-around finger-groove rubber grip provides a secure hold; the original factory black checkered panels with Ruger medallions are included if you prefer the classic profile.
Operation is the proven semi-automatic blowback system in .22 LR with a heel-type magazine release, manual thumb safety, and a last-round bolt hold-open. The target trigger includes an over-travel stop screw. Capacity is 10+1, and three Ruger Mark II-pattern steel magazines are included.
Context for collectors and shooters: the Mark II was produced until roughly 2005 and is widely regarded for reliability and accuracy in target shooting, hunting, and training. Its design traces influence to the Japanese Nambu Type 14 in overall bolt and barrel layout. Field-stripping is known for a slightly more involved procedure using the mainspring housing latch.
