The Hawken Woodsman is a single-shot flintlock muzzleloader chambered in .50 caliber, built with a 28" octagonal steel barrel and a 1:48 twist. It is a faithful, modern reproduction configured for traditional sidelock operation and marked on the barrel with "TRADITIONS HAWKEN WOODSMAN • Old Saybrook, CT, U.S.A. • MADE IN SPAIN • .50 CAL. 1/48".
The right-hand flintlock features a frizzen, pan, and cock, paired with double-set triggers for a crisp, adjustable release. The lockplate and hammer are case-colored and embellished with light factory scroll engraving, adding period-correct visual appeal without being overstated.
The hardwood half-stock is brass mounted, including a brass crescent buttplate, hinged-lid brass patchbox, brass nose cap, and an oversized brass trigger guard. An oval brass wedge escutcheon with a single wedge key secures the barrel to the stock. Length of pull is 14.0.
Sighting is straightforward with open sights: a front blade in a dovetail and a rear open sight with an elevation screw marked "UP". The rifle carries a blued finish and clear safety guidance on the barrel: "BLACK POWDER OR PYRODEX ONLY. DO NOT USE SMOKELESS POWDER." Proofed "CIP A" and marked "MADE IN SPAIN," this example presents cleanly and comes with its original documentation. MSRP: $719.95.
