This first-generation (pre–Mark II) Browning BAR Grade I in .30-06 pairs classic looks with a proven short-stroke gas system. Built in 1991, it features a 22-inch barrel with factory open sights, a high-polish blued finish, and walnut furniture with cut checkering and a gloss finish. It retains the distinctive integrated floorplate/trigger guard magazine assembly and shows Browning rollmarks and barrel patent markings that collectors and shooters recognize.

This BAR is the early, pre–Mark II configuration, noted for its short-stroke gas system and rotating multi-lug bolt. The action is semi-automatic and gas-operated, with right-side ejection and a polished bolt and handle visible through the ejection port. The detachable box magazine is integrated with the floorplate/trigger guard assembly, and stated capacity is 4+1.
The rifle wears a high-polish blued finish on the receiver and barrel and is complemented by walnut furniture. The stock and matching fore-end feature cut checkering, a gloss finish, and sling swivel studs. Proof stamps are present on the barrel shank.
Barrel length is 22 inches, set up with factory open iron sights consisting of a hooded front post and an adjustable rear on a ramp. The receiver is rollmarked "BROWNING BAR," and the barrel is marked "BAR CALIBER .30-06 ONLY – BROWNING PATENTS."
Controls include a cross-bolt safety with a red witness ring. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches, offering a traditional hunting rifle fit with the balance and handling the BAR line is known for.
