The 16.5 inch medium/heavy taper barrel is steel, non-fluted, and cold-hammer-forged, with a recessed crown for protection. The muzzle is threaded and fitted with a protector, giving the rifle a compact, purpose-built profile.
The carbon-fiber composite stock has a visible woven finish and a straight-comb, sporter fore-end design. A free-floated barrel channel promotes consistent barrel harmonics, while the Limbsaver recoil pad and 13.5 inch length of pull support comfortable shooting. Sling swivel studs are installed front and rear.
The short-action Howa 1500 uses a two-lug bolt with an M16-style extractor for reliable cycling. The right-hand bolt has a swept handle with a round knob, and the three-position safety provides intuitive control. The steel receiver has a matte finish and is drilled and tapped for scope bases. There are no iron sights.
This rifle feeds from a detachable 3-round magazine for a total capacity of 3+1. It is chambered in .308 Winchester and configured as a short action for efficient handling.
Made in Japan by Howa Machinery and imported by Legacy Sports International (Reno, NV), it bears the appropriate import marks. The bolt handle root shows a matching partial serial "557" electro-penciled, aligning with Howa’s attention to assembly detail.
