The Compact variant features a 12.5-inch length of pull and a black synthetic stock with a SuperCell recoil pad, textured grip and forend, and integral sling studs. The carbon-steel receiver and barrel wear a matte blued finish for a low-glare profile.
Its 20-inch carbon-steel barrel is button-rifled, free-floated, and uses a barrel-nut system with a separate recoil lug. Twist rate is 1:10" to support a wide range of .308 Win loads. Dual-pillar bedding supports consistent action-to-stock alignment.
The action uses a floating dual-lug bolt with a 90° lift and Remington's user-adjustable CrossFire trigger set to approximately 3.5. Feeding is via a detachable short-action magazine marked "M783 SHORT ACTION" with a 4+1 capacity.
Markings include "Remington MODEL 783" on the receiver and "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY MAYFIELD, KY CAL 308 WIN." on the barrel. Optics are addressed by an installed one-piece base, rings, and a mounted 3-9x40mm 1" SFP Duplex Scope with a 1-inch tube and duplex reticle.
