The Model 36-10 Classics retains the hallmark J-frame, 5-shot layout in .38 Special +P, paired with a 1.875 inch barrel for a traditional Chief's Special profile. The fixed sighting system combines a serrated ramp front sight with a rear groove in the topstrap.
Construction details include a carbon steel frame, barrel, and fluted cylinder, all finished in polished blue. The hammer and trigger are matte silver-colored, and the ejector rod features a knurled tip with a star extractor.
This revolver operates in double-action/single-action with an exposed hammer. An internal key lock is positioned above the cylinder latch, consistent with its Classics-series configuration.
Factory markings are present: the left side plate bears the S&W logo; the right frame is marked "MADE IN U.S.A.
