Ruger Police Service-Six .357 Magnum Stainless 4-Inch DA/SA Revolver with Fixed Sights
This stainless-steel Ruger Police Service-Six is a 1980s-era, fixed-sight .357 Magnum duty revolver with a 4-inch barrel. It features Ruger’s transfer-bar safety, an investment-cast solid frame, and an aftermarket Hogue Monogrip rubber grip with finger grooves for a secure hold.
Built as part of Ruger’s Six-Series, the Police Service-Six uses a solid, investment-cast frame without a sideplate and a coil mainspring. The six-shot fluted cylinder swings out on a crane and uses a star extractor for positive ejection, with a knurled ejector-rod tip for easy manipulation.
The 4-inch stainless barrel has a full-length rib and is marked “.357 MAGNUM CAL.” along with the Southport, Conn., U.S.A. address and safety warning. Fixed sights include a ramped, serrated front blade and a square-notch rear milled into the topstrap, giving a durable, snag-resistant sighting setup.
Controls and operating features are straightforward: double-action/single-action trigger, transfer-bar safety system, and a six-round capacity in .357 Magnum. The frame is rollmarked “POLICE SERVICE-SIX” with the Ruger phoenix logo, and all major components are stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
As a United States-made revolver from the 1980s, this Police Service-Six represents the duty lineage that later led to the GP100 series. The aftermarket Hogue Monogrip rubber stocks with finger grooves provide a modernized, hand-filling interface on this classic fixed-sight service revolver.
