Built on the Santa Barbara commercial Mauser 98 platform, this rifle uses the robust 98-pattern action with an external claw extractor and a turned-down bolt handle. Feeding is via an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, and capacity is 3+1.
The 26-inch .270 Winchester barrel is a Kevin F. Dillon custom, sporter/medium contour, and is marked KEVIN F. DILLON. It wears a polished blued finish with additional markings for Black-Yak Blueing Servis (Flint, Michigan). There are no iron sights, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases.
Its Custom Laminate Thumbhole Stock is a laminated hardwood design with carved decorative panels and checkering. Details include a contrasting dark fore-end tip, an oval decorative inlay at the right rear of the butt, and a teardrop-shaped dark belly pad behind the trigger guard. Sling studs are installed, and a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad is fitted. Length of pull is approximately 12.75 inches.
