Produced in the 1935-1959 era, it bears the "RANGER 22 S-L-LR MODEL 103-8 - MADE IN THE U.S.A." barrel marking, and the Sears "103" identifier that denotes Marlin manufacture.

This model is a single-shot design that feeds through an open loading port with no magazine well. Capacity is one round. A single large takedown/action screw is located in the fore-end.
The bolt uses an external rear cocking knob with a round bolt handle. The receiver is steel with a blued finish, matching the rifle’s overall blued finish.
Sights are open and straightforward: an unhooded front blade on a barrel base paired with an elevation-adjustable rear leaf.
The one-piece hardwood stock is uncheckered with a semi-pistol grip and a right-side thumb scallop, complemented by a stamped metal trigger guard and a black buttplate. Length of pull is 12.25 inches.
