The 940-3 is a stainless-steel J-frame revolver with an internal (concealed) hammer and double-action-only trigger. It uses a 5-shot fluted cylinder and a heavy, shrouded 2.1 in barrel with relief flutes. The knurled ejector-rod tip and enclosed hammer design support snag-resistant operation.
This distributor-exclusive configuration is identified by its green fiber-optic front sight, a pinned/dovetail blade paired with a fixed U-notch rear integral to the topstrap. The front element provides a bright sight reference while retaining fixed-sight durability.
This example has no internal key lock. The model marking "940-3" is on the yoke cut, and the revolver carries standard S&W rollmarks and trademarks.
Boot-length textured grips with finger grooves offer a compact hold. For the model line, approximate dimensions are 6.6 in overall length, 1.3 in width, and about 23 oz in weight. Country of origin is the United States.
