The SIG 556 SWAT configuration delivers a robust feature set built around a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt. An adjustable gas regulator at the gas block supports reliable operation with varying ammunition and conditions.
A full-length, T-marked Picatinny top rail and an aluminum quad-rail handguard provide extensive mounting real estate. No sights are installed, and a Knight's Armament Co. rail cover is fitted to the handguard.
The 16-inch barrel is threaded and capped with a birdcage-style flash suppressor. The receiver is alloy construction with a uniform tan/light-earth finish matched to the polymer furniture.
Ergonomics and compatibility are AR-centric, including AR-pattern magazine use and a stated 30+1 capacity. A Magpul MOE six-position carbine stock in tan is installed, offering a 13.5-inch length of pull. Controls include a manual safety selector.
