What's Included
- Steyr-Daimler-Puch Mannlicher-Schoenauer Mod. MC .458 Win. Mag. bolt-action rifle
- Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad installed
This Mod. MC is a scarcer post-war Magnum-series variant, notable for its .458 Winchester Magnum chambering paired with a 26 inch barrel. The action is the classic Mannlicher-Schoenauer design, including the split-bridge receiver and signature 'butterknife' bolt handle for smooth cycling.
The rifle retains the Schoenauer rotary spool magazine with a 3+1 capacity, as well as the rotary magazine floorplate and triggerguard assembly bearing factory trademarks. The serial number is repeated on the receiver and barrel shank, consistent with factory practice on these rifles.
It wears a right-hand Monte Carlo walnut stock featuring a shadow-line cheekpiece, fine checkering, a contrasting black fore-end tip, and a white line spacer. A Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad is professionally installed to complement the heavy .458 Win. Mag. chambering while preserving a 14.25 inch length of pull.
Iron sights include a hooded ramp front sight with bead and a barrel-mounted rear sight on a leaf/elevator base.
Markings include 'MADE IN AUSTRIA,' 'Original Mannlicher Schoenauer,' 'Mod. MC Kal. .458,' and 'STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH AG, STEYR.' The combination of Magnum action, very rare chambering and configuration, and original Austrian manufacture makes this an appealing example for collectors and enthusiasts of classic dangerous-game rifles.
