The G1 Easy-Open Contender frame is blued steel with factory cougar medallion and scrollwork engraving on the sides. It uses a break-action, single-shot design with an external hammer and a capacity of one round.
The factory Super 14 barrel is a heavy-profile 14-inch steel tube chambered in .35 Rem. It is drilled and tapped, with a barrel-mounted scope base installed that occupies the rear sight position. A ramped front sight is present, and scope rings are installed on the base.
Ergonomics and handling are enhanced by a Pachmayr rubber finger-groove pistol grip and matching Pachmayr rubber forend, each with a gold medallion. Sling swivel studs are installed on the forend and grip butt, and a knurled hammer extension is fitted.
This U.S.-made G1 incorporates Thompson/Center's interchangeable-barrel system and the hammer-mounted rimfire/centerfire selector. It represents a 1990s configuration that pairs the engraved frame with the .35 Rem Super 14 barrel.
