The M57 uses a short-recoil, locked-breech Browning-type system and operates in single-action with an external spur hammer. This example has an importer-added, frame-mounted manual safety with a red index, aligning it with import requirements while preserving the core Tokarev-pattern function.
Construction is all steel with a blued finish on both frame and slide. The slide has rear vertical serrations and longitudinal anti-glare serrations across the top for a clear sight picture. Sights are fixed, with a blade front and a notch rear. The slide is roll-marked "7,62mmM57."
Ergonomics and handling cues include ribbed black plastic grips with SFRJ star medallions and full-size proportions. The barrel measures approximately 4.6 inches, and overall length is approximately 7.6–7.7 inches. A lanyard loop is present on the grip frame, and the included magazine also features a lanyard loop floorplate.
This pistol was manufactured in Yugoslavia and bears an importer mark "CROATIA" on the right side of the frame. It follows the model’s matching serial-numbering convention on major components. Chambered in 7.62x25mm Tokarev with an 8+1 capacity, it includes one 8-round steel magazine with witness holes.
