Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Model 34-1 Kit Gun .22 LR, 4 Inch, Blued J-Frame Square Butt, 6-Shot DA/SA (Late 1980s)

This late-1980s Smith & Wesson Model 34-1 Kit Gun is a J-frame, square-butt .22 LR revolver with a 4-inch tapered, factory unpinned barrel and classic blued finish. It features adjustable iron sights, factory walnut Magna stocks with round S&W medallions, and color case-hardened hammer and trigger. This example is well-preserved with a clean, mirror-bright bore and sharp rifling, making it a strong choice for collectors of S&W rimfire kit guns.

    What’s Included

    • The Outdoor Connection soft zippered pistol rug

The Model 34-1 is clearly marked on the yoke, and the barrel carries correct factory rollmarks: ".22 LONG RIFLE Ctg." on the right and "SMITH & WESSON" on the left. The frame wears the S&W trademark logo on the right side with the "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." rollmark. These details align with late-1980s production.

This revolver uses the J-frame in a square-butt configuration with a six-shot fluted cylinder. The topstrap and rib are serrated, and the cylinder release latch is checkered/serrated for positive control. The build is all carbon steel with a uniform blued finish on the frame, cylinder, and barrel.

Sight regulation is handled by a pinned, serrated ramp front sight and an S&W micrometer click adjustable rear sight. This setup provides a clear, repeatable sight picture that suits the 4-inch barrel length and the revolver’s intended kit-gun role.

Controls and small parts include a color case-hardened, exposed hammer with a checkered spur and a color case-hardened trigger. The factory walnut Magna stocks are checkered and set with round S&W medallions, completing the classic appearance and period-correct configuration.

This example represents a late-production -1 without the barrel cross-pin (factory unpinned barrel), consistent with 1987–1988 manufacture. Overall presentation and mechanical features reflect the quality and details associated with this era of S&W rimfire kit guns.
