The Bodyguard 38 is built around a hybrid construction: a metal upper frame mated to a polymer grip and trigger-guard module, all in a matte black finish. Its enclosed (shrouded) hammer and double-action-only mechanism ensure snag-free operation, while the top-mounted sliding cylinder release is a distinctive Bodyguard feature that is easy to access.
The 1.875-inch barrel features a stainless barrel liner and a full underlug with a shrouded ejector rod. Fixed sights consist of a serrated, pinned/riveted front ramp and an integral rear notch, providing a straightforward, durable sighting setup.
An integrated Crimson Trace laser with push-button activation provides an additional aiming reference aligned with the barrel. This laser is built into the revolver, keeping the profile compact and consistent with the Bodyguard 38 design.
The revolver is +P rated and uses a five-shot fluted cylinder finished in matte black to match the frame. Black textured polymer grips with S&W medallions round out the package. Markings include Made in U.S.A. rollmarks consistent with its domestic manufacture.
