The Bauer Automatic follows the proven Baby Browning pattern with a micro footprint and simple blowback operation. Capacity is 6+1 in .25 ACP, paired with a 2.1 inch barrel and an unloaded weight of about 10 oz, making it notably compact at approximately 4.04 x 2.78 x 1.00 inches.
Construction is all stainless, using 416 stainless investment-cast slide and frame with a matching stainless finish. The slide features rear cocking serrations and an anti-glare top rib. Sights are fixed and integral: an front blade and a rear notch.
Controls are straightforward, including a two-position thumb safety. Field-stripping is fast and familiar to Baby Browning users, using a clockwise 45° barrel rotation to disassemble.
Production falls within the Bauer era (circa 1972–1984) in Fraser, Michigan, USA. Slide rollmarks include "Bauer Automatic" and "25 CALIBER AUTOMATIC" with the maker mark on the right side. An "S" stamp appears beneath the frame serial number. Many parts and magazines interchange with the FN Baby Browning.
