The operating system is DA/SA with a short-recoil, locked-breech design. Controls include a left-side, slide-mounted safety/decocker, a button-style magazine release, and an external hammer with a spur. The curved trigger provides a familiar, straightforward pull profile.
Sighting is handled by a fixed 3-dot setup with a single-dot front and two-dot rear. The slide carries rear cocking serrations for positive manipulation and maintains a clean front profile.
The one-piece wraparound textured polymer grip with S&W medallion offers a secure hold on the full-size frame. Capacity is 10+1 rounds, and this pistol accepts S&W 59-series double-stack magazines; one 10-round steel magazine is included.
