As a Pre-Series 70 Gold Cup, this pistol predates the Series 70 collet Accurizor bushing, representing an earlier National Match configuration sought by target shooters and collectors. The purpose-built setup includes a flat-topped, matte anti-glare slide and the Colt-Eliason fully adjustable rear sight with a tall Patridge front for a crisp, square sight picture on the bull.
The 5-inch Colt National Match barrel is marked "COLT .45 AUTO. N.M." on the hood and is paired with a standard Government Model 7+1 capacity. The slide carries rear vertical cocking serrations. The trigger is Colt’s wide, grooved match unit with lightening cuts designed for a consistent release in target work.
Controls and furniture are classic Gold Cup: a wide serrated target spur hammer, arched and serrated mainspring housing, smooth front strap, and a checkered or knurled recoil spring plug. Checkered walnut stocks with gold Colt medallions frame the polished blue carbon-steel construction.
Finish details include polished blue flats with a matte, anti-glare top surface to reduce reflections under match lighting. Safety features consist of a manual thumb safety, grip safety, and inertial firing pin, consistent with the 1911 platform.
