What's Included
- Smith & Wesson Model 642-2 Airweight .38 Special +P revolver
- Factory-installed black rubber boot-style grip
The Model 642-2 is part of S&W's Airweight series, built on the J-frame Centennial pattern with an enclosed hammer to support snag-resistant carry and DAO function. It is chambered in .38 Special +P with a 5-shot stainless steel cylinder and a 1.875-inch stainless steel barrel.
The aluminum alloy frame keeps weight to about 14.5 ounces, with an overall length of approximately 6.31 inches. The revolver wears a matte silver finish on the frame with a matching stainless cylinder, creating a uniform, utilitarian appearance.
Sight regulation is straightforward with fixed sights: an integral serrated ramp front and a fixed rear notch in the top strap. The factory black rubber boot-style grip features molded checkering and two molded finger grooves for control in a compact profile.
Operational details include an internal hammer, double-action-only trigger system, and S&W's internal lock. The ejector rod has an exposed knurled tip. Model marking is verified in the yoke cut, with serial markings on the butt and on the frame in the yoke cut; the yoke/crane typically carries an assembly number.
Factory markings include the S&W circular "TRADE MARK" logo on the sideplate, "Airweight" script on the frame, and the "SPFLD, MA S&W U.S.A." rollmark. Made in the USA.
