The V3 configuration delivers a traditional DA/SA trigger with a rear-mounted decocker and an external spurred hammer, offering deliberate first-shot control and easy administrative decocking. The ambidextrous, paddle-style magazine release supports either hand without changing grip.
Its 3.66 in cold hammer-forged steel barrel uses polygonal rifling and a short-recoil, Browning-type linkless tilting system. The design emphasizes durability and consistent performance in a compact footprint.
Meprolight Tru-Dot tritium 3-dot night sights are factory-installed, providing a clear sight picture with a 5.59 in sight radius. The extractor features a red witness line that serves as a loaded chamber indicator.
The glass-fiber-reinforced polymer frame keeps weight down while maintaining rigidity. Interchangeable backstraps and aggressive molded texturing help tailor the grip. An accessory rail with one cross slot is integrated on the dust cover.
Markings include HKI – Columbus, GA import stamp, DE proof and CIP N proof marks, and a Made in Germany roll mark. The P2000 in .40 S&W was adopted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, underscoring its established service role.
