The PT 738 TCP uses a locked-breech micro .380 design with an internal hammer and a smooth, double-action-only trigger. The slide locks open on an empty magazine, and the standard left-side magazine release provides familiar operation.
The pistol pairs a matte stainless slide with rear serrations and a beveled muzzle over a durable black polymer frame, creating a practical two-tone setup. The barrel is stainless steel, and the frame features textured polymer grips with a molded Taurus logo and diagonal traction pattern.
Sighting is straightforward with fixed, low-profile sights: an integral rear notch and a small integral front blade. A loaded-chamber view port at the barrel hood offers a quick status check, and the pistol uses passive internal safeties with no manual/key lock.
Its compact dimensions—approximately 5.2 in overall length, 3.75 in height, and 0.87 in width—combine with an unloaded weight of about 10 oz and a 6+1 capacity. This USA-marked TCP series example reflects the later-discontinued line (by 2017), offering a concise, purpose-built micro .380 configuration.
