The 686-6 is built on Smith & Wesson's robust L-frame in stainless steel, pairing durability with the controllability of a 4 inch barrel and full underlug. The satin stainless finish extends across the frame, cylinder, and barrel for a clean, uniform appearance.
Its action is double-action/single-action with an exposed, checkered hammer spur for confident manual cocking. A checkered cylinder release aids positive manipulation, and the revolver uses a 6-shot fluted cylinder in .357 Magnum (also compatible with .38 Special).
Sighting is handled by a pinned red/orange ramp front sight and a fully adjustable rear sight, giving the shooter a clear front reference and the ability to dial in point of impact. The black textured synthetic grips with S&W medallions provide a sure hold and resist the elements.
