The EMP 4 Lightweight Champion is built on Springfield Armory’s shortened 9mm-specific 1911 architecture. It offers a compact profile with a 10+1 capacity and a forged aluminum alloy frame to keep weight down while maintaining 1911 ergonomics. The factory case label confirms the EMP-4 9mm Champion LW Bi-Tone configuration (PI9211LP).
Its 4 in stainless steel match-grade bull barrel is bushingless and uses a reverse plug with a full-length guide rod. A fully supported feed ramp is engineered for reliable feeding with 9mm ammunition. The slide has rear cocking serrations only and a loaded chamber witness hole.
Controls and ergonomics include a beavertail grip safety with a memory bump, a manual thumb safety, and a skeletonized long trigger paired with a skeletonized Commander-style hammer. The front strap features Posi-Lok texturing, and the mainspring housing is checkered, with a beveled magazine well to aid reloads.
Sighting is fast and clear with a red fiber-optic front and a low-profile rear featuring two green fiber-optic elements. The two-tone finish presents a matte/satin stainless slide over a non-railed, hard-coat anodized alloy frame. Thinline cocobolo wood double-diamond grip panels with Springfield Armory medallions complete the package.
