This Smith & Wesson Model 940 Centennial is a stainless, double-action-only J-frame chambered in 9mm Luger with a 2" barrel and a five-shot fluted cylinder. It is designed for use with five-round moon clips and features the short underlug with exposed, knurled ejector-rod tip associated with the original 1990s pattern. Fixed sights, a Hogue Monogrip rubber grip, and factory rollmarks round out this compact stainless package.

The 940 is a DAO Centennial configuration with a fully enclosed internal hammer, delivering a snag-free profile in a classic J-frame format. The frame, cylinder, and barrel are stainless steel with a matte/satin stainless finish.
The 2" stainless barrel uses a short underlug and leaves the knurled ejector-rod tip exposed, a hallmark of the original 1990s pattern. Sights are fixed, with a serrated ramp front and an integral top-strap groove rear.
Chambered in 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum), the revolver is designed to be used with five-shot moon clips to accommodate the rimless cartridge. Capacity is five rounds in a fluted stainless cylinder.
Factory markings include "MOD 940" on the yoke cut, "SMITH & WESSON" and "9MM PARABELLUM" barrel rollmarks, and the right-side frame legend "MADE IN U.S.A. ... SPRINGFIELD, MASS." with the S&W crest on the sideplate.
Stocks are Hogue Monogrip rubber, providing a secure hold. The revolver was manufactured in the United States.
