The SW9VE is part of Smith & Wesson's pioneering Sigma VE series, the company's first polymer, striker-fired family and the precursor to the SD/SD VE line. Chambered in 9mm Luger with a full-size frame, it offers a 16+1 capacity and a double-action-only striker system for consistent trigger operation.
Its two-tone build pairs a matte stainless slide with a black polymer frame. The slide wears diagonal rear serrations for positive manipulation, while the frame uses molded checkering to enhance grip traction. A push-button, left-side magazine release supports straightforward reloads.
Fixed sights include a front blade with a white dot and a low-profile square-notch rear for a clear, simple sight picture. The dust cover is molded with an integral accessory rail in the Sigma pattern, allowing direct attachment of compatible accessories.
Factory literature lists a 4.0 in barrel, an overall length of approximately 7.25 in, and a weight around 24.7 oz. The frame is marked with the safety notice 'Capable of firing with magazine removed.' This model was made in the USA.
