The AR-7 breaks down quickly and stows its barrel, receiver, and magazines inside the hollow ABS polymer stock. With the removable buttcap in place, the package compacts to approximately 16.5 in for storage and transport, then reassembles easily in the field.
The 16 in barrel uses a steel core with an ABS polymer shroud and secures with a knurled barrel nut. It has a 1:16 twist for .22 LR ammunition and is paired with a simple, reliable semi-automatic blowback action. Henry lists the barrel length at 16.125 in, and the rifle carries an 8+1 capacity.
Sighting is straightforward with iron sights: a protected blade front and a peep rear. Controls are practical and accessible, including a manual safety, an inside-the-trigger-guard forward magazine release, and a right-side reciprocating charging handle. Length of pull is 14.0 in.
The alloy receiver and stock are finished in black, keeping overall weight to about 3.5 lb and overall length to 35 in when assembled. The receiver top includes a 3/8 in grooved dovetail for rimfire rings. Manufacturer markings indicate Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
