Chambered in .45 ACP, the Defender platform delivers a 3.0 in Defender-length slide/barrel on an Officer’s-size frame in a compact 1911 format. Its bushingless bull barrel and short slide are configured for reliable function in a micro-size package with a 7+1 capacity.
The slide is stainless with rear cocking serrations only and a lowered, flared ejection port. Series 90 rollmarks are present. The rowel (commander-style) hammer and a long, three-hole aluminum trigger complete the compact 1911 control layout.
Sighting is handled by low-mount, dovetailed 3-dot sights, with a single white-dot front and a rear secured by a set screw. Safety features include a thumb safety and a grip safety, with a vertically serrated mainspring housing.
The two-tone finish pairs a stainless slide over a matte gray anodized aluminum-alloy frame to keep weight down while maintaining durability. Wraparound finger-groove rubber grips with circular medallions provide a secure hold.
Manufactured in the USA in 1998, this example shows the expected Colt production details, including a triangle proof on the left trigger-guard bow and single-letter inspector or production marks on the right dust cover.
