The SCAR 17S NRCH pairs a short-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt with a monolithic aluminum upper receiver and polymer lower, all finished in FDE. Ambidextrous controls include the safety selector and magazine release, and capacity is 20+1 with detachable box magazines.
The NRCH system uses dual ambidextrous charging handles that are non-reciprocating, lock forward, and are forward-assist capable. This setup reduces external movement during operation while giving the user positive control over the action when needed.
Barrel construction features a 16.25 inch cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel with a 1:12 RH twist. The muzzle is threaded and fitted with a three-port brake.
Sighting equipment includes a folding front sight integrated with the gas block; the rear sight is not installed. The upper receiver integrates a full-length T-marked Picatinny top rail.
This example includes a Haga Defense HD A3 folding/telescoping, skeletonized stock with an adjustable cheekpiece installed, and also comes with the factory FN folding/telescoping polymer stock. With the factory stock, the length of pull ranges from 11.5 to 14.5 inches. The receiver markings read "FN COLUMBIA, SC USA" and "SCAR 17S MULTI-CALIBER."
