Built in the United States in 1968, this post-64 Model 70 Standard Rifle pairs the .338 Winchester Magnum chambering with a 24 inch sporter-profile steel barrel. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases, and the bolt body is engine-turned for a smooth, distinctive finish.
The walnut stock is configured for right-handed use with a Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece. It wears pressed skip-line checkering for grip, a ventilated recoil pad with white/black line spacers, sling swivel studs, an inletted oval monogram plate, and a fore-end cross-bolt plug. Length of pull measures 12.75 inches.
Sighting is via a ramped, dovetailed front blade and an adjustable open rear sight on a stepped base. The barrel and action bear period markings including "MADE IN U.S.A." and "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL."
The push-feed bolt-action system features a factory three-position bolt-shroud safety. It feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, and employs a plunger ejector and a small snap-over extractor. Capacity is 3+1 in .338 Win. Mag. The bore condition and rifling are excellent, supporting the rifle's strong overall presentation.
