Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 .44 Magnum 4 in Blued N-Frame Revolver, DA/SA (1980s Transitional Non-P&R)

This Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 is a late-1980s, N-frame .44 Magnum with a 4 in barrel and high-polish blued finish. It is the transitional non-P&R configuration with a crush-fit barrel and non-recessed chambers. The revolver retains classic 29 features with adjustable sights and a six-shot fluted cylinder, and it comes with both rubber finger-groove grips installed and an additional hardwood target-style grip. An A-prefix serial range indicates late-1980s U.S. production, and the Model 29 line is widely associated with the "Dirty Harry" films.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There is small scuffing and scratching on the barrel. The cylinder shows wear from use. Timing and lock-up are solid.

    What's Included

    • One-piece rubber finger-groove grip with molded S&W logo installed
    • One-piece hardwood finger-groove target-style grip (maker not identified)

The 4 in carbon-steel barrel features a serrated top rib, ejector-rod shroud, and half-lug, paired with a high-polish blued finish across the frame and cylinder. The six-shot fluted N-frame cylinder and textured cylinder-release latch deliver the familiar Model 29 handling and capacity.

This 29-3 is the transitional non-P&R variant, built with a crush-fit barrel and non-recessed chambers. The A-prefix serial range places production in the late 1980s, aligning with the era noted for these engineering updates.

Sights are set up for precision: a micrometer-adjustable square-notch rear with two small yellow dots applied, and a serrated ramp front. The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth-face, color case-hardened trigger and an exposed, color case-hardened hammer with a checkered spur.

Chambered in .44 Rem Magnum, this revolver also accepts .44 Special and .44 Russian, offering flexibility in ammunition choice. It ships with a one-piece rubber finger-groove grip installed and includes an additional one-piece hardwood finger-groove target-style grip.
