The Model 60 no-dash Chiefs Special is a stainless-steel J-frame, built with a non-pinned, crush-fit 1.875 in barrel and a partial underlug with a front locking lug. Its grooved, anti-glare topstrap and satin stainless finish support clean sight alignment and a durable, corrosion-resistant exterior.
This DA/SA revolver uses an exposed hammer and a smooth, narrow trigger for controlled operation. It features a five-shot fluted cylinder and a short, knurled ejector rod for positive extraction.
Sights are fixed, with a serrated ramp front and an integral rear notch. The revolver wears round-butt checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, providing a classic factory-correct look and solid purchase.
Markings include the S&W trade mark logo on the left side of the frame and the four-line "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." legend on the right side. The yoke is stamped "MOD. 60." This pre-lock configuration was manufactured in the United States in 1988.
