Built on the proven SKS platform, this Type 56 uses a gas-operated, short-stroke piston system with a tilting bolt. It is configured with a 20.5 inch barrel and a fixed 10-round internal magazine loaded by stripper clips. The bolt and bolt carrier are left in the white, contrasting with the blued finish on the receiver cover and remaining metalwork.
The rifle features a full-length hardwood stock with a steel buttplate that includes a trapdoor, plus a bottom sling swivel. A ventilated wood handguard completes the classic Type 56 furniture. Most metal components wear a blued finish.
Sighting equipment consists of iron sights: a hooded post front and a tangent leaf rear sight with meter graduations. The length of pull measures 12.5 inches, maintaining the traditional SKS handling characteristics.
