The SW1911 Target configuration centers on shootability. A fully adjustable target rear sight pairs with a dovetailed plain front blade, giving the shooter precise elevation and windage control. Rear-only slide serrations provide a clean sight picture while maintaining positive manipulation.
The steel frame and slide wear a dark matte finish, and the pistol retains the hallmark 1911 controls with a manual thumb safety and a beavertail grip safety with a raised memory pad. A checkered front strap and a flat, vertically serrated mainspring housing aid in consistent grip retention.
Key mechanical details include an external extractor, a lowered and flared ejection port, and a GI-style barrel bushing with a checkered recoil spring plug. The skeletonized Commander-style hammer and skeletonized, three-hole aluminum trigger contribute to a crisp, target-focused shooting setup.
Double-diamond checkered wood grip panels with S&W medallions complete the classic look. Factory markings include “S&W SPRFLD, MA USA” and “SW1911,” along with a caution indicating the pistol is capable of firing with the magazine removed.
