The Cattleman II New Model Improved series integrates a retractable firing pin safety into a traditional single-action-only layout. This revolver is chambered in .357 Magnum with a six-shot fluted cylinder and a 5.5 inch round steel barrel. The right-side ejector housing carries a round-button ejector head for positive case extraction.
Construction and finish are period-appropriate and durable: a steel frame with a color case-hardened finish paired to a blued steel barrel and blued steel cylinder. The one-piece smooth wood plow-handle grip provides a classic profile and consistent hand placement. Fixed sights consist of a blade front and an integral rear notch in the topstrap.
Markings include the two-line 1871/1872 patent legend on the left side of the frame and a barrel rollmark reading "MOD. 1873 CAL. .357 MAG." Italian proof/date cartouches and the Stoeger Accokeek, MD – A. Uberti – Italy import mark are present. An additional small "1522" stamp appears on the forward frame.
