Daniel Defense DD5V1 7.62 NATO AR-10, 16 in CHF Chrome-Lined CMV Barrel, Ambi Controls, Geissele SSA Two-Stage, LANTAC Dragon Dead Air Brake
The Daniel Defense DD5V1 brings the DD5 series to 7.62 NATO with a purpose-built AR-10 platform introduced in 2015 as the company's first in-house 7.62 AR-pattern rifle. This example features a cold hammer forged, chrome-lined CMV barrel, a 15 in free-float M-LOK handguard with a full-length top Picatinny rail, and a nickel-boron BCG with dual ejectors. It is upgraded with a Geissele SSA two-stage trigger and an installed LANTAC Dragon Dead Air muzzle brake/adapter.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: The bolt catch is not functioning as intended. Our in-house gunsmith determined the buffer tube is too short, preventing the bolt from traveling far enough rearward to engage the bolt catch; as a result, the bolt does not lock open when retracted. Exterior surfaces show scratches and blemishes from handling and prior use.
What’s Included
- LANTAC Dragon Dead Air muzzle brake/adapter (installed)
- 1x 10-round Magpul PMAG LR/SR GEN M3 polymer magazine (7.62x51)
Built on 7075-T6 aluminum receivers in a black finish, the DD5V1 uses SR-25–pattern magazines and a mid-length gas system to drive its semi-automatic, direct-impingement action. Daniel Defense’s proprietary four-bolt barrel/handguard interface adds a robust connection between the barrel extension and the 15 in free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard.
The 16 in chrome-moly vanadium steel barrel is cold hammer forged and chrome lined for durability. It is threaded 5/8x24 and fitted with a LANTAC Dragon Dead Air muzzle brake/adapter. The 1:11 twist rate is matched to 7.62x51 NATO loads, and the bore condition is clean with well-defined rifling.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety and magazine release, and the rifle includes a modular charging handle. The stock is a collapsible polymer unit with a 10.75 in length of pull, paired with a textured pistol grip featuring soft-touch overmold panels.
The nickel-boron bolt carrier group features dual ejectors, an oversized cam pin, and a captive firing-pin retaining pin. A full-length top Picatinny rail runs the length of the 15 in handguard for mounting needs, and overall the rifle is configured as a full-size 7.62 NATO platform made in the USA.
A Geissele SSA two-stage trigger is installed, providing a proven two-stage design, and this rifle’s custom configuration is rounded out by the included Magpul PMAG LR/SR GEN M3 10-round magazine.
