The Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman is built on S&W's N-frame and chambered in .357 Magnum, delivering the strength and durability expected of a duty revolver. This example pairs a 4-inch heavy barrel with a non-recessed six-shot cylinder, a configuration prized for balance and handling.
Its sighting system includes a ramped front sight and an S&W micrometer adjustable rear sight. The topstrap features a matte, anti-glare sighting plane for a clean, high-contrast sight picture.
Controls and lockup are purpose-built: a knurled ejector rod with a front locking lug supports secure operation, while the trigger and wide-spur target hammer are color casehardened. The checkered hardwood stocks have finger grooves and S&W medallions.
Construction is all carbon steel with a blued finish across the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The yoke cut is marked "MOD. 28-2," the left sideplate carries the S&W crest, and the N-prefix serial places production in the 1975–1977 timeframe. Made in the United States.
