The Mod. 383 DA (383A) is the double-action variant in Bersa’s early compact line and is a direct predecessor to the later Thunder series. It is identifiable by its external slide stop, a feature that sets it apart from the subsequent Model 83.
Chambered in .380 ACP, it uses a 3.5 in barrel and a 7+1 capacity in a compact, aluminum-alloy-framed package. The pistol measures approximately 6.6 in in overall length and weighs about 24 oz, offering a solid feel in a carry-friendly size.
The DA/SA action is paired with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and a ring-style spur hammer. Controls are straightforward and period-correct for the 1980s design ethos.
Slide details include rear cocking serrations and longitudinal anti-glare serrations along the top. The sighting system is fixed, with a front blade and a square-notch rear.
It wears two-piece checkered wood grips and carries clear import and origin markings: K-MAX INTERNATIONAL, INC. GLENVIEW ILLINOIS 60025 and INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA. Made in Argentina, this example reflects Bersa’s 1980s production features and markings.
