Product Description

Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Long Rifle 7.7 Japanese, WWII, 31.4-inch Barrel, Scarce Nagoya Production

This Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Long Rifle is a scarce WWII-era Japanese service rifle chambered in 7.7 Japanese. It features the long-rifle pattern with a 31.4-inch barrel and correct arsenal markings, including the Type 99 characters, a circled Nagoya arsenal emblem, and an uncircled kana series mark. Note: this example has been cut down/sporterized from its original long-rifle military configuration; the fore-end is shortened and the rifle no longer carries the original long furniture.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are visible dents, scuffs, and scratches, with noticeable wear on the bolt and barrel. Rust and pitting are present, and the rear sight shows rust. The bore remains solid with pronounced rifling. The rifle has been sporterized/cut down from its original military configuration: the upper handguard, front and rear barrel bands, and nose cap with bayonet lug are absent; the under-barrel cleaning rod and front sling swivel are missing; and the fore-end terminates well short of the muzzle.

    What’s Included

    • Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Long Rifle chambered in 7.7 Japanese

Long-rifle Type 99s were produced in much smaller numbers than the later short rifles, with approximately 38,000 made in total and about 8,000 produced by Nagoya Arsenal. That limited output contributes to the relative scarcity of this configuration, particularly from Nagoya.

This rifle retains hallmark Type 99 mechanical features, including a bolt action with cock-on-closing operation and a large knurled rear safety knob. The split-bridge receiver supports stripper-clip loading into the fixed internal 5-round box magazine, providing a stated maximum capacity of 5+1.

The long 31.4-inch barrel with factory-style sight provisions reflects the classic Type 99 layout, with a protected front-sight base and a rear sight assembly. The left-side sling swivel on the stock reflects Japanese service-pattern carry and handling.

Correct arsenal and series markings are present: the Type 99 characters on the receiver ring, the circled Nagoya arsenal emblem, and an uncircled kana series mark, in the typical order following the serial number.
