This first-issue Trooper .357 is built on Colt's medium I-frame with pre-Mark III traditional lockwork. It is a double-action/single-action revolver with an exposed hammer, a fluted six-shot cylinder, and a 4-inch barrel. The ejector rod is unshrouded with a knurled tip, a defining feature of this early configuration.
The sighting system pairs a fully adjustable Accro-style square-notch rear sight with a serrated ramp front sight on a raised base. This setup provides a clear sight picture and fine elevation and windage adjustments.
Factory markings include "TROOPER .357" over ".357 MAGNUM CTG." on the left side of the barrel and the Colt Hartford address on the right. The Rampant Colt logo appears behind the cylinder. Serial markings are present on the crane and crane recess, along with a small "V" inspector/assembly mark.
Construction is all carbon steel with a polished blue finish on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. Checkered walnut service stocks with silver Colt medallions complete the classic profile. Made in the United States in 1968, this Trooper .357 reflects the 1960s first-issue configuration valued by Colt enthusiasts.
