The 640-3 is a stainless-steel J-Frame Centennial originally equipped with the internal key lock, combining a durable all-stainless construction with a snag-free, enclosed-hammer profile. On this example, the internal lock has been removed/disabled and a round plug installed. This double-action-only configuration emphasizes simplicity and reliability in a compact package made in the USA.
Chambered in .357 Magnum and also rated for .38 Special +P, it uses a 5-shot fluted stainless cylinder. The 2.125 inch heavy-profile barrel includes an underlug and ejector shroud, providing a robust front end in a short-barreled format.
Sighting is straightforward and durable: a serrated ramp front sight paired with an integral rear groove. The stainless frame, barrel, and cylinder wear a brushed/satin finish that complements the model’s utilitarian design.
